There is an Intro to Outdoor climbing course running this weekend at Symonds Yat in the Wye Valley and due to a cancellation there are 3 spare places. This is a 2 day course that will teach you all the basics of climbing outdoors including:
- How to put on a helmet and harness correctly.
- How to fit and use specialist climbing shoes.
- How to belay using a standard belay device or Gri Gri.
- How to climb using good footwork and pushing with the legs.
- How to climb by transferring weight from one foot to the other.
- Learn how to use static and dynamic balance.
- How to remove and place gear using a nut key.
- How to build a belay.
- How to abseil.
Other skills and techniques may be added as the weekend develops. Photographs will be taken throughout the day and a Dropbox link provided.
